  • The winch is driven by one (1) 2-speed hydraulic gearmotor and planetary gearbox assembly. Between the gearbox and hydraulic motor, there is a spring applied, hydraulically released multi-disk brake capable of holding approximately 150% of the winch normal operation linepull rating. A pinion is driven through a mechanical jaw clutch on the intermediate shaft.
  • Final reduction is achieved by the pinion driving a stub tooth gear. The gear is bolted to one drum flange, and provided with a steel guard.
  • The hydraulic motors are complete with a counter balance valve located inside a manifold.
  • The intermediate shaft is supported by the drive mount and bearings. The mechanical jaw clutch is actuated by a hydraulic cylinder and includes a visual indicator outside the frame for the operator to verify the clutch position.
  • A spring applied, hydraulically released band brake is located on the non-drive side flange, capable of holding approximately 100% of the spud breakout linepull (77,500 lbs).
  • The drum is grooved to fit 1-1/2 wire rope, all-steel welded construction. The drum has a root diameter of 24 , and 10-7/8 wide between the flanges. The rope is anchored by running the dead-end of the rope through a hole in the drum flange and clipping the rope on the outboard side of the flange.
  • The winch frame is an all-steel welded construction, adequately stiffened to support the full design load of the winch. Sufficient holes for anchor bolts are drilled in the frame structure. The frame includes lifting lugs to facilitate handling with a sling.
